Snapshots are manual backups that include a complete image of your cloud server. Backups are automatic copies of the server disk, completed each night. Both options allow you to quickly restore a server.
Cloud volumes are individual blocks of storage attached to your cloud servers. Available sizes range from 10 GB to 10 TB. This provides faster, more flexible storage for individual server instances.
We run our cloud servers on the latest Intel Xeon processors. Our servers also use ECC RAM. Local storage options use fast, stable NVMe SSDs.
We use a kernel-based virtual machine (KVM) for a hypervisor to run multiple virtual environments. For local disks and NICs, we use Virtio.
We do not currently provide the option to customize virtual servers. However, we provide a variety of additional server configuration options. You may mount cloud volumes with up to 10 TB of storage. Other configuration settings include adding more RAM or CPU resources using the provided Rescale option.
We use cloud-init to prepare disk images and set up the networks. The images come with the QEMU Guest helper daemon preinstalled. This daemon provides force flushing of disk image caches before creating snapshots or backups. It also allows you to easily reset the root password.
